Museum School Now fully accredited!
The Museum School of Avondale Estates has received full accreditation status from SACS/AdvancEd! With the announcement this summer, our school joings a distinguished group: Among start-up charter schools serving elementary and middle grades in Georgia, only 20 others can boast AdvancEd accreditation status.
Principal Katherine Kelbaugh pursued accreditation in part for the extensive self-evaluation required in the process. School leadership and staff undertook a rigorous 18-month internal review, identifying both strengths and areas for growth.
After a three-day on-site review by its external review team, AdvancEd professionals called the school's culture and student performance data "out of this world" and its core values "deeply ingrained." They listed school leadership and parent involvement as the top evaluation categories.
"This gives certification to what we already know," said retired Board Chair, Aspen Kron, after the review and recommendation. "Our school is incredibly special, and it is our outstanding principal, highly dedicated teachers and staff, and committed parents that make it so!"
GOING GREENER: TMS AWARDED SUSTAINABILITY GRANT
The Museum School is excited to receive a Grants to Green award from the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta. Announced in May, the $178,441 matching grant helps fund light and water efficiency improvements, a rainwater harvesting system and HVAC efficiency upgrades. The grant helps our school continue the pursuit of sustainability – one of our core values – by reducing water and energy consumption.
