TMS PTO Mission Statement
The mission of TMS PTO is to aid the students, faculty and staff of The Museum School of Avondale Estates in their educational and recreational needs. Through fund-raising and family activities, TMS PTO will promote open communication between faculty, parents and the community to enhance the educational environment of children attending The Museum School.

Join A Planning Committee!

PTO Planning Committees are a great way to earn volunteer hours at home while planning fun events and activitie throughout the year.

SCHOOL PICNIC: The annual Picnic in the Park celebrates National Charter Schools week. Committee members are needed to work with vendors, organize volunteers and develop a plan for another fun movie night in the park.

YEARBOOK: Help organize, plan and coordinate pages to be established for the school yearbook. The Yearbook is an ongoing project throughout the year but will be sold in April to be distributed in June/July 2014.

HOSPITALITY COMMITTEE: Coordinate food for the Holiday Staff Appreciation Breakfast, PTO potlucks, picnics, meetings, social events, Exhibit Night snacks and dinners for teachers and staff, and coordinate the Picnic in the Park food by soliciting donations if needed. Ongoing

ROOM PARENTS: Work closely with teachers, staff and additional PTO committees regarding classroom needs throughout the year.  Also, help with coordinating chaperones for expedition trips, class parties, teacher classroom gifts, Teacher Appreciation Week and other school events.  Inquire with your child’s teacher in August to sign up as a room parent.

SCHOOL DIRECTORY: Committee will help to design, obtain pictures and solicit advertising for the school directory.  Directories will be produced and distributed September/October 2014.

READ-A-THON: Coordinate the school-wide Read- A-Thon fundraiser by promoting reading and raise funds for the teachers’ book room or other designated special projects.  Work with the committee to establish theme, promote and collect student pledge forms and donations. Also, work with teachers and staff to assist students with logging their in class reading time during the week of the Read a Thon. September 2014

FALL FEST: Committee will support Room Parents in producing classroom activity booths; solicit vendors, refreshments and DJ. Plan and source prizes for the costume contest, ticketing, and promotion of the event. October 2014

PARENTS NIGHT OUT: Assist with coordination of the children’s activities while parents take the night off.  This includes coordinating tickets/registration, activities, snacks, movie showing (if applicable) and event volunteers.

TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK: Show our teachers they are the best by helping to organize class/teacher gifts, celebrations, the teacher appreciation lunch and other gestures. February 2015

SCHOOL DANCES: Committee will plan for volunteer needs, refreshments, activities /entertainment, venue, decorations, securing a DJ, event promotion, ticketing and chaperone guidelines. Spring 2015

FAMILY FUN FITNESS DAY: Help plan and coordinate vendors, food, activities and work with PR/Communications chairperson to promote this community-wide event.  This event was created in observance of Heart Health Month and to increase health and fitness awareness in the community. March 2015
