TMS PTO Mission Statement
The mission of TMS PTO is to aid the students, faculty and staff of The Museum School of Avondale Estates in their educational and recreational needs. Through fund-raising and family activities, TMS PTO will promote open communication between faculty, parents and the community to enhance the educational environment of children attending The Museum School.

Planning Committees & Upcoming Events

PTO Planning Committees are a great way to earn volunteer hours at home while planning fun events and activities throughout the year.

HOSPITALITY COMMITTEE: Coordinate food for the Holiday Staff Appreciation Breakfast, PTO potlucks, picnics, meetings, social events, Exhibit Night snacks and dinners for teachers and staff, and coordinate the Picnic in the Park food by soliciting donations if needed. Ongoing

ROOM PARENTS: Work closely with teachers, staff and additional PTO committees regarding classroom needs throughout the year.  Also, help with coordinating chaperones for expedition trips, class parties, teacher classroom gifts, Teacher Appreciation Week and other school events.  Inquire with your child’s teacher in August to sign up as a room parent.

SCHOOL DIRECTORY: Committee will help to design, obtain pictures and solicit advertising for the school directory.  Directories will be produced and distributed September/October 2014.

READ-A-THON: Coordinate the school-wide Read- A-Thon fundraiser by promoting reading and raise funds for the teachers’ book room or other designated special projects.  The committee will establish a theme, distribute and collect student pledge forms and promote the event. September 2014

FALL FEST: Committee will plan food and refreshments, solicit a DJ, plan costume contest and photo booth, identify volunteer needs, promote the event and support Room Parents in producing classroom activity booths. October 2014

PARENTS AFTERNOON OUT: Committee will plan children's activities while parents take an afternoon off. This includes coordinating tickets/registration, venue, snacks, movie showing, identifying volunteer needs and promoting the event.

TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK: Show our teachers they are The Best by helping to organize teacher gifts, celebrations, the teacher appreciation luncheon and other gestures. February 2015

DANCE COMMITTEE: Committee will plan for volunteer needs, refreshments, activities/entertainment, venue, decorations, event promotion, ticketing and chaperone guidelines. April 2015

EXPLORER DASH COMMITTEE: Committee with work with the city to produce a 5K and 1 mile Fun Run. Plan route, source goodie bags, identify volunteer needs and promote the event. March 2015

SCHOOL PICNIC: The fifth annual Picnic in the Park celebrates National Charter Schools week. Committee members are needed to work with vendors, organize volunteers and promote the event. May 2015

2015 YEARBOOK COMMITTEE: Committee will establish a theme, host a cover contest, help organize photos, plan and coordinate pages for the school yearbook. (Ongoing)
