Thank you to all that attended our annual State of the School event on April 25.  If you missed it, here are some top highlights:

Academic Excellence:  TMS students continue to excel.  In fact, the majority of our students score at the “proficient” and “distinguished” levels in Milestones testing. They are scoring nearly twice as high as their DeKalb and state-wide peers in all areas — math, science, social studies and ELA!

Awards & Recognitions:  The school continues to be recognized for its outstanding achievements and academic innovations. Recent accolades include:  Silver Highest Performing Award from the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement; Finalist for Charter School of the Year; and Principal Katherine Kelbaugh named 2018 Charter School Leader of the Year.

Diversity Plan:  We are strengthening our mission of providing TMS students with the skills needed for real world success.  As part of our Charter, the TMS Board of Directors has developed a Strategic Action Plan to ensure the school’s faculty, staff, students and Board members reflect the socio-demographic diversity of the community we serve.  More information and resources about this important initiative is available at  https://themuseumschool.org/tms-charter/

TMS Strategic Plan: The Board of Directors announced it is updating its existing Strategic Plan. The revised Strategic Plan contains six key areas of focus:  Academic Excellence; Financial Stability; Strong Governance; Infrastructure & Resources Growth; Effective Communication; and Educational Leadership.   The Board will vote to finalize the Strategic Plan at its May 15 regularly scheduled Board Meeting.

New Media Center:  The Foundation reports that $1 million will be raised by the end of the school year for our much-needed new Media Center!  This means construction will begin later this summer!  But, to complete the project, another $1million is still needed.  Key to securing these remaining funds is parent financial contribution.  The Foundation is asking that all parents complete a financial contribution before the end of this school year.  Every single parent and every single dollar helps!  Contribution information is available at:  https://themuseumschool.org/support/exceeding-expectations/
