TMS Celebrates Black History Month
Friday, February 28, 2025 5pm-7pm
Join us on Friday, February 28, 2025, as we recognize Black History Month through a schoolwide Block Party!
JOIN US FOR:
Please join us at 5 pm in the TMS Gym for a drum circle, staff and student performance of “Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing”, and performance by TMS’ STEP Program. Afterwards, tour classroom doors to learn more about HBCUs and complete a scavenger hunt to get a chance to win an HBCU-related door prize. Visit the Brave + Kind mini bookfair in the Media Center as part of Black Children’s Book Week, take photos in our photo booth, tour the mini college fair, and more!
This is a family event. ALL children under the age of 18 should be accompanied by an adult at all times. This is NOT a drop-off event. Please note that the playground, basketball court, and field will be off-limits for this event.

TMS Families, don’t miss out on the delicious food at our BHM Block Party on February 28th! Plates must be pre-ordered.
- Entree options: BBQ Chicken, Jerk Chicken, BBQ Tofu, or Jerk Tofu
- All plates include cabbage and rice & beans
- Choose between Banana Pudding or Red Velvet Cake for dessert
- $15 per adult plate | $10 per child plate
- Payment request will be sent upon completion of order form. Order will not be complete until payment is received.
Food orders will remain open till February 26th or until we reach 150 orders!

Wednesday 2/26: Rep Your HBCU
Spirit Wear- wear the colors or merch of your HBCU! It could be an HBCU you attended, one you have a special connection to, or one that you have learned about in your class this Black History Month!
*Must wear uniform bottoms
Activity: Take a class picture or photo in your HBCU colors to be featured on the morning announcements!
Friday 2/28: Unity Day
The colors for Black History Month are red, black, green, and yellow. These colors are associated with the Pan-African flag and have been used to honor Black culture and heritage since 1920.
Spirit Wear- wear either a TMS Black History Month t-shirt or a solid red, black, green, or yellow top with uniform bottoms
Activity: Join us for our school Black History Month celebration from 5:00-7:00 pm!
