6th Grade ELA
I attended UGA, where I graduated summa cum laude with degrees in English and English Education. Upon graduating, I realized how little those degrees prepared me for actually teaching middle school English. Twenty years (or a little more) down the road, I’ve taught thousands of kids in public, private, and charter schools. I’m still learning and revising my plans every single day, and I am so grateful to work at a school that encourages experimentation and lifelong learning.
I have two kids at The Museum School, as well as a beagle who has probably woken you up with his howling if you live anywhere in the neighborhood. Sorry about that. I enjoy cooking, hiking, reading, and taking large groups of middle schoolers to concerts and plays.
Building relationships is my favorite part of my job. I’m passionate about encouraging kids to try new things and introducing my students to new books and ideas. I joke that middle schoolers are my very favorite animal, and it is a privilege to get to know them over the course of a school year and to be a part of their lives.
