Orchestra Teacher
Jennifer Derringer is in her 16th year of teaching, currently at The Museum School in DeKalb County. Previously, she directed the high school orchestra program at Arabia Mountain High School in Dekalb County, and Charles R. Drew High School in Clayton County. While at Arabia Mountain, Jennifer received a Star Teacher Award. While at Charles R. Drew, Jennifer was named Teacher of the Year. Her leadership roles include serving as GMEA District IV’s Orchestra Chairperson, Orchestra Department Head of DeKalb County Schools, and Lead High School Orchestra teacher in Clayton County Public Schools.
Jennifer holds a Masters in Music Education degree from Georgia State University, and a BA in Violin Performance degree from University of South Florida. She is very active as a professional violinist. She founded and performs with the string ensemble Piedmont Strings. She also has performed with Rome Symphony Orchestra, Atlanta Pops Orchestra, and LaGrange Symphony.
When not teaching, Jennifer is usually traveling with her husband, Brock, playing with her two crazy dogs Barnaby and Dexter, or cuddling with her cats Tuxie and Sadie.
