Staff Appreciation Fund FAQs

• How much should I give?  The suggested donation is $50 for one student, $80 for two students, and $100 for 3+ students. You may also add an extra gift to cover another student. Every dollar donated is appreciated and valued!

• How do I give to the fund?  To give electronically, visit this form or write a check to The Museum School Foundation with “Staff Appreciation Fund” in the memo.  You can either mail the check to 923 Forrest Blvd. Decatur, GA 30030 or write “The Museum School Foundation” on the envelope and send it in with your student.

• Where does the money go?  Donations are collected by The Museum School Foundation and transferred to The Museum School PTO.  They are marked as “Staff Appreciation Fund” and restricted for that purpose.

• How is the money spent?  The PTO Board awards each staff member with a cash gift at the end of December and during Teacher Appreciation Week in May.  Any extra funds go towards catering meals and providing treats for all staff during the Holiday luncheon or during Teacher Appreciation Week.

• If I give to this fund, do I still need to send in a gift to my child’s teacher?  You are welcome to give just to this fund, give just to your teacher, or both!  Each family gives in their own way and each donation is appreciated.

• Is my donation tax deductible?  Yes!  The Museum School Foundation will automatically send an electronic receipt for all online donations.  For all cumulative donations over $200 given to the school each calendar year, the Foundation will email an itemized tax receipt in January.  Email [email protected] with any questions about your donation.
• How else is the staff supported?  The PTO’s yearly budget includes monthly treats for all staff, stocking the staff break room with coffee and supplies, and providing catered dinners for each Exhibit Night.  In addition, The Museum School Foundation also awards Teacher Mini-Grants to fulfill any needs not covered by the school’s operating costs.  Those funds are awarded monthly using the Foundation’s unrestricted funding.  To learn more about The Museum School Foundation, click here.
