Dear Parents,
During the Week of January 27th—31st, Museum School Students will participate in The Great Kindness Challenge. Kindness Week is an opportunity for students to learn and demonstrate kindness through their words and deeds.
This year, Kindness Week will comprise of three elements: The Kindness Challenge, Daily Kindness Themes, and Spirit Days. Each component encourages students to embody the TMS Value of Kindness.
Daily Kindness Challenge ( Caught Being Kind)
Students can receive explorer tickets each day for displaying acts of kindness. TMS Staff Members and student Ambassadors will give out tickets throughout the day. Tickets will be collected, and two students’ names (one from elementary and one from middle school) will be drawn during the morning announcements and given a prize.
Daily Kindness Themes
The daily kindness themes are specific actions we challenge students to take that day. We hope that by encouraging one act of kindness, many more will follow.
- Monday (Jan. 27th) – Spread Kindness (Spread kindness by giving compliments)
- Tuesday (Jan. 28th) – Giving Thanks ( Write a note or say thank you to a teacher or family member)
- Wednesday (Jan. 29th) – Environmental Awareness ( students are encouraged to show kindness to the environment)
- Thursday (Jan. 30th) – We Pledge to be Kind (students are encouraged to write down ways they pledge to be kind and display them on the display board)
- Friday (Jan 31st) – Kind Reflections (students are encouraged to reflect on they demonstrated kindness throughout the week.)
Spirit Days
The three Spirit Days for the week of January 27th-31st are attached to each of the daily themes.
- Tuesday (January 28th): Throwback Kindness (Wear 70s, 80s, or 90s outfit)
The theme of Tuesday is giving thanks to the adults in their lives. By wearing some of their nostalgic clothing styles, students can build some bonds with their adults. Or, at the very least, be thankful for the fashionable styles they brought into existence! - Wednesday (January 29th): Go Green- Be Kind to Our Environment (Wear a Green Shirt)
Wednesday’s theme is environmental awareness. We will emphasize how to keep our environment clean and become a more environmentally friendly and sustainable world. - Friday (January 31st): My House is Full of Kindness (Wear your house colors– Middle School / Elementary students can wear pink or red)
The theme of Friday is kind reflections. Students are encouraged reflect on how they have demonstrated kindness in action. This is opportunity for students to show just how kind they have been during the week and, hopefully, will continue to be so.
