forVolunteers came together at The Museum School of Avondale Estates to make 600 sandwiches and assemble 130 hygiene kits for distribution to community members in need during the “MLK Day of Compassion” event on Monday, Jan. 20.
“We do this to honor the life and legacy of Dr. King,” TMS parent Nicky Kautter said. “The kids want to make a difference.” She also helped organize the project. Kautter started the event last year and said it offers the students a chance to be part of a culture of compassion.
Publix donated $100 worth of sandwich-making supplies, and the North Decatur Road Kroger donated 20 lbs. of lunch meat and cheese. Other donations came from the community.
