A Day in the Life of a Georgian
BEAUTY IN DIVERSITY

What makes each one of us unique? Why is it important that we’re different? What can we learn from one another? Each of our classes began the year exploring our own identities. We had many lessons about what makes us unique, including where our families came to our community from, what we like to do, and what we can teach our class community. Each class created a different Book of Diversity. Read each of our books by clicking on the cover, and listen to our reflections on why learning about diversity is important.

FAMILY HISTORY MAPS

A big part of our journey of diversity and identity was discussing where we all came from and where we are now. We celebrated the excitement of knowing that, as Georgians, we all come from so many places and have so much to offer in our uniqueness. We created class maps so that we could see all of the amazing places that helped create our beautiful class diversity! This also became an important kick-start into our study of how modern day Georgia came to be. Explore our family maps, then add your own pin to the interactive one at the end! See the places your family is from where they overlap with Native American traditional lands.

REFLECTIONS
SIGN OUR PETITION

We want The Museum School to put the following statement on their website to acknowledge that our school is located on traditional Muscogee lands:

“We recognize that the Museum School is on the traditional lands of the Muscogee tribe. We want to honor them. We learned about the Cherokee and Muscogee tribes and how their land in Georgia was taken from them. We think this wasn’t fair to them.”

If you would like to partner with us, please consider signing this petition.
