High Marks for Our Explorers!

At The Museum School, we set expectations high, and our students proudly surpass them! For the fourth consecutive year, Museum School Explorers have scored exceptionally well on the statewide CRCT exam.

In the majority of subjects and grade levels, more than 97% of our students met or exceeded state standards!

Other highlights include 100% of all Museum School students in every grade meeting or exceeding standards in Reading and 100% of fifth graders meeting or exceeding standards in all five subject areas.

Way to go, Explorers!

Taking Innovation Nationwide

We’re Building the Nation’s First Association of Museum Schools!

A recently awarded federal grant of $150,000 will allow our school to create a nationwide Museum School Network, uniting more than 30 museum schools from at least 10 states. The association will share best practices for boosting student achievement at top-performing schools with educators and administrators across the nation.

The vision of Katherine Kelbaugh, principal of The Museum School of Avondale Estates, the project has potential to improve student engagement and achievement in a substantial way across Georgia and the country!

Capital Campaign

Help Us Meet Student Needs Today and Tomorrow!

The past five years have been exciting ones for Museum School families, who have built a top-quality school with a tremendous grassroots, volunteer effort.

Since the school's opening in 2010, its student population has more than doubled, a middle-school program has been added, and the school moved into a fantastic permanent location! With that growth comes the task of funding all renovation costs for a facility that dates back to the 1950s.

This summer's renovations include re-roofing part of the oldest building, adding a cutting-edge STEM lab and constructing a walkway bridge between the upper and lower buildings to meet ADA requirements!

Exceeding Expectations, our capital campaign, supports our five-year renovation process, and we need your support. Please join us as we tackle the challenges of the next few years in The Museum School's exciting journey.

Remembering Tami and Jess

With love and sorrow, The Museum School family remembers Tami and Jess Willadsen, two beautiful people who made immeasurable contributions to our school community and profoundly touched so many lives. Their adventurous spirits and compassionate natures inspired those who knew them well, and their loss is deeply felt. They remain always in our hearts.

Get Ready to Read!

Save the Date for Sept. 22, the start of our annual Read-a-thon!

Designed to build strong student reading skills while raising much-needed funds for The Museum School, the Read-a-thon also gives parents, grandparents and family friends an opportunity to help the children in their lives with reading encouragement.

Watch for upcoming emails with details on how to support our little readers!

Exhibit Night: When Our Little Explorers Shine!

Exhibit Night is a special time at The Museum School: You never know who or what you'll find on display. Four times a year, our students re-enact pivotal moments in history, conduct science experiments and show off their work, from hand-crafted zoos and rainforest models to sun dials, gravity rooms, a student garden and so much more! Be our guest at the first Exhibit Night of the school year: Thursday, October 9, 2014 from 6-8 p.m.
